Nerd Alert: The grape originated as a cross of Syrah pollen germinating a Peloursin plant. Also known as Durif, taking the name from who discovered it and later continue to breed since 1880, François Durif. This particular wine is from Baja California, a state in the far northwest of Mexico, and the heartland of the Mexican wine industry.

Personal Note: The first time I heard of L.A. Cetto was back in 2014 when a different distributor was bringing the wines to Puerto Rico. I had no expectations since I had never tried mexican wines before and I must say they were up to the mark. Since then I’ve tried quite a few and then I tried this one in the 2020 lockdown. I don’t have a big catalogue of palate memories from this grape, but my notes seem to tell me that it held it’s own. Also, on the second picture, evidence of the home schooling that took place during those months in this household. Wine was needed.
